Learn From Your Fear | Meet The Woman Running Deepak Chopra’s Business | How Busy Philipps Advocates For Women

Greetings from Salinas, California! I'm here for the 5th annual Forbes AgTech Summit, where we'll be talking about all things future of food--and how women are shaping that future. I'm kicking off our morning program talking to Ertharin Cousin, the former UN ambassador to the World Food Programme, about world hunger and the steps we can take to better feed the earth's population. Later in the day, I'll speak to Krysta Harden, former USDA deputy secretary, and Tara Vander Dussen, a fifth-generation dairy farmer, about how to make dairy farming more sustainable.

Yesterday, Moira Forbes interviewed Land O'Lakes CEO Beth Ford, who talked about the many issues facing rural farmers: broadband access, policy and tariff uncertainty and, most surprising of all, food insecurity. By Ford's accounting, 78% of rural counties in America index as lacking reliable access to fresh produce and healthy food, despite being at the epicenter of where food is produced. Ford is trying to draw more attention to this issue in hopes of attracting more support--in particular, investment dollars--for these communities, because they're so vital to the American economy.

"I am so impressed with farmers," she said. "They are the original entrepreneurs."

Cheers to that!
Maggie

P.S. My favorite tip on the site this week will surprise none of you who know how much I love yoga: do some downward dogs. It's great for your body and, it turns out, your happiness levels at work.
